To fix the functionality issue with your DVR's mouse, remote, and front panel buttons, please follow these instructions:
Unplug the power to the unit for 30 sec, then plug it back in.
Wait for the DVR to fully initialize, the cameras to come up, and a white gridline to appear (1 min).
Using the buttons on the front of the DVR,
Press the Menu button once. Wait 5 sec.
Press the up directional arrow once. Wait 5 sec.
Press the Enter button once. Wait 5 sec.
Press the Menu button once. You should now have functionality.
To lock your default interface output:
Go to Main Menu (where you see 6 icons).
Go to System -> A/V (or Video) set up.
Next to INIT. DEV, select your output (VGA or VOUT), and press Apply. Then Exit, back to the cameras.
