How does the Intelligent Recording/Motion Detection Work?

The new Zmodo Simplified Power Over Ethernet NVR with firmware version V40.0.1.9 or newer has only two recording options: Basic Recording and Intelligent Recording.

If you pick Basic Recording, the NVR will record 24 hours a day, seven days a week on all channels at the highest possible framerate.  If you pick Intelligent Recording, the DVR will record at the full 30FPS when the NVR detects motion, but when there is no motion the NVR will only record one frame every 5 seconds.  This is a really good way to make sure you're covering all necessary recordings while maximizing HDD space.
